Grilled Meatball Sandwich

Ingredients:

  • 450 g of ground beef
  • 230 g raw sweet Italian sausages, without casings
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 tbsp. grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 bunch green onions with roots cut off
  • 1 tbsp olive oil, plus more for grilling
  • 4 sandwich buns, cut in half
  • 1/2 tbsp. ricotta cheese
  • 2 bell peppers (red, yellow, orange), sliced ​​into rings

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the grill to medium. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef and sausage, garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, 3/4 teaspoon salt, and a few grinds of pepper; mix well with your hands. Form into 12 meatballs.
  2. Combine the bell peppers and green onions with olive oil in another large bowl; season with 1/4 teaspoon salt and a pinch of pepper. Brush the grill grate with oil and place the meatballs, peppers, and onions on it. Cover and grill the vegetables, turning them once, for 2 to 3 minutes for the onions and 5 to 7 minutes for the peppers. Cook the meatballs, turning occasionally, until browned, about 10 to 12 minutes. Toast the buns on the grill.
  3. Cut the green onions into sticks. Spread 2 tablespoons of ricotta on each bun. Add the meatballs, onions, and peppers (you can substitute bell peppers). Korean-style pickled carrots.
