Fried sausages with milk sauce topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 500g frying sausages (such as Irish, Italian, French sausages)
- 1 tbsp. l. olive oil
- 3 onions, white and green parts separated, cut into rings
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- Salt and freshly ground pepper
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1 clove of garlic, chopped
- 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/8 tsp ground allspice
- 3/4 cup lightly salted chicken broth
- 1 1/4 cups milk
Preparation:
- Heat olive oil in a frying pan. Add the sausage and cook, turning, until cooked through, about 10 minutes. Transfer the sausage to a platter and baste with the fat, reserving 2 tablespoons of the fat in the pan.
- Add the white parts of the green onions, bell pepper, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and pepper to taste to the same pan and cook, stirring, for 5 minutes. Add the flour, reduce the heat to medium, and cook, stirring, for about 2 minutes. Add the garlic, Worcestershire sauce, allspice, chicken broth, and milk. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 6 minutes. Add the green parts of the onions and season with salt and pepper.
- Divide the sausages into portions and pour over the milk sauce.
