Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil + extra to grease the pan
- 3.5 cups flour + extra for dusting the pan
- 2 tablespoons ground mustard seeds
- 1.5 tsp salt
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- A pinch of cayenne pepper
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 0.33 l of light beer
- 1 tbsp. grated smoked gouda
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh thyme leaves
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 175°C. Grease and flour a bread pan.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, mustard, salt, baking soda, and cayenne pepper.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg with vegetable oil and beer.
- Add the liquid mixture to the flour mixture. Stir in the grated cheese and thyme. Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 45 minutes.
- Cool the bread on a wire rack.
