Dutch Apple Pie Cocktail

Ingredients:

    Cocktail

  • 300 ml unfiltered apple cider (non-alcoholic), heated
  • 120 ml Calvados (apple brandy)
  • 60 ml sugar syrup, see recipe below
  • 30 ml lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 6 drops of bitters
  • Brown crystal sugar on a stick, for serving
  • Sugar syrup, recipe below

Preparation:

  1. Pre-soak a small package of golden raisins in Calvados for 24 hours. Use the Calvados to make a cocktail, and serve the raisins as an appetizer.
  2. In a teapot, combine apple cider, Calvados, simple syrup, lemon juice, cinnamon, and bitters. Stir thoroughly.
  3. Pour into teacups and garnish with a sugar stick. Serve with raisins.

    Sugar syrup:

    Combine 1 cup demerara sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Cook, stirring, until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let cool completely. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
