Coconut pits for Halloween topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- Cooking spray
- 1/4 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp lime zest + 1 tbsp lime juice (1 large lime)
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- A pinch of salt
- 0.5 cup seedless raspberry jam
- 1 can (350 g) chilled pizza dough
- 1 beaten egg
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 200°C. Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray. Set aside.
- In a small bowl, combine the coconut, sugar, lime zest, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Set aside. In another small bowl, combine the raspberry jam with the lime juice. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
- Roll out the pizza dough with a rolling pin into a 25x30 cm rectangle. Use a pizza cutter to cut the dough into twelve 2.5 cm wide strips.
- Tie both ends of the strips into a knot and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Brush each "bone" with a small amount of beaten egg, then sprinkle with the coconut mixture.
- Bake until golden brown and the pits are puffed, 13–16 minutes. Remove from the pan and serve with raspberry-lime "blood" for dipping.
