Strawberry Cheesecake French Toast

Ingredients:

  • 10 Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp. l. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 220 g of cream cheese
  • 0.5 tsp. grated lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 1/4 cup strawberry jam
  • 2/3 cup diced strawberries + extra for garnish
  • 1 tbsp. granulated sugar
  • Powdered sugar and maple syrup, for serving

Preparation:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or spray a 8-inch round cake pan with cooking spray and set aside. Cut 1-inch-wide, 1-inch-deep holes in each bun. In a medium bowl, combine the eggs, milk, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Dip each bun in the egg mixture and place in the pan.
  2. In a bowl, beat the cream cheese with lemon zest, honey, and jam using a mixer. Stir in the strawberries. Transfer the mixture to a pastry bag and fill each hole in the buns. Dust the buns with granulated sugar.
  3. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the tops of the buns are crisp and golden brown. Serve with strawberries, dusted with powdered sugar, and drizzled with maple syrup.
