Asian macadamia with sesame seeds

Ingredients:

    Asian Spice Mix with Sesame

  • 2 tablespoons white sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp dark sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons lightly salted soy sauce
  • 1.5 tsp finely grated fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Five Spice Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

    Nuts

  • Protein of 1 large egg
  • 4 cups unsalted raw macadamia nuts
  • Vegetable oil to grease the baking sheet

Preparation:

  1. Combine sesame seeds, sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger, five-spice powder, red pepper flakes, and 1 1/2 teaspoons salt in a small bowl and set aside.
  2. Preheat oven to 175°C. Lightly grease a rimmed baking sheet with vegetable oil.
  3. Place the egg white in a large bowl and whisk until foamy. Add the nuts and stir to coat. Add the spice mixture and stir again, distributing it evenly.
  4. Spread the nut mixture evenly on the prepared baking sheet and bake, stirring occasionally, until golden brown, 15-20 minutes. Let cool on the baking sheet, then transfer to a large bowl.
