Marinara sauce topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 2 small onions, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 2 stalks celery, finely chopped
- 2 carrots, peeled and finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1800 g canned pureed tomatoes
- 2 bay leaves
Preparation:
- Heat oil in a large saucepan. Add the onion and garlic and cook for about 10 minutes, until the onion is translucent. Add the celery, carrots, and 1/2 teaspoon each of salt and pepper. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 10 minutes.
- Add the pureed tomatoes, bay leaf and simmer, uncovered, over low heat until the sauce thickens, about 1 hour.
- Remove the bay leaf. Add salt and pepper to taste.
The sauce can be made the day before. Cool and store tightly sealed in the refrigerator. Reheat before using.
