Classic Daiquiri

Ingredients:

    Cocktail

  • 2 cups crushed ice + extra for chilling the glass
  • 60 ml light rum
  • 30 ml freshly squeezed lime juice, strained
  • 15 ml simple sugar syrup, see recipe below

    Simple sugar syrup

  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 cup of water

Preparation:

  1. If your glass isn't chilled, chill it by filling it with a little crushed ice. Set it aside while you prepare the cocktail.
  2. Place 2 cups of crushed ice in a cocktail shaker. Pour rum, lime juice, and simple syrup over the ice, cover, and shake well.
  3. Remove the ice from the glass and strain the cocktail into it. Serve immediately.

    Simple sugar syrup:

    Combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan and heat over high heat. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is completely dissolved, about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool completely. The syrup can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a month..
