Philly Cheesesteak Pizza topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 3 tbsp. l. olive oil
- 1 small onion, halved and thinly sliced
- 1 long sweet pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 clove of garlic, crushed
- 450 g of thinly sliced boiled beef
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper
- 4 pitas without pockets or whole grain lavash
- 2 cups coarsely grated cheese mixture (mozzarella, provolone, and Parmesan)
- 1/2 cup sliced pickled cherry peppers
Preparation:
- Preheat a grill or broiler. Heat the olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion and bell pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.
Add the garlic and beef and continue to cook, stirring occasionally, for another 3 minutes, until the beef begins to brown. Add the parsley, 3/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper and cook for another 1 minute.
- Meanwhile, line a baking sheet with foil. Place the pitas on the prepared baking sheet and sprinkle each with 1/4 cup of cheese. Top with a single layer of the beef mixture and sprinkle with the remaining 1 cup of cheese.
- Broil the pizzas until the cheese is melted, about 2 minutes. Sprinkle with marinated peppers and cut each pizza into quarters.
